Walking Hadrian’s Wall – Tim and Carol

Tim Bryson is Blue Smile’s Chair of Trustees, and was involved in helping to get Blue Smile started. He is keen to do everything possible to ensure that Blue Smile grows and continues to provide excellent support and therapy for children in Cambridge. His wife, Carol, decided to set some personal Challenges for 2014 for herself and Tim. This walk came out of a post-New Year stroll!

Carol and Tim walked the full length of Hadrian's Wall, 84 miles, from Sunday 7 September to Sunday 14 September. The longest day's walk was 16 miles. They carried their backpacks and stayed in B&Bs. Tim and Carol are keen walkers, having recently walked in Austria and in the Lake District, but this was their first long-distance walk.

Tim and Carol kept us in touch with their progress and sent photos of the fabulous scenery. Here are some extracts from their 'Week on the Wall'.

Sep 08 18:53: 15 miles at blistering pace across industrial Newcastle and then onto rural Heddon-on-the-Wall. Enjoying beer and roast dinner now!

Sep 09 17:47: Not so much blistering pace as emerging blisters! Now getting out into the real countryside and the best to come over the next couple of days. Staying in gorgeous B&B in Humshaugh.

Sep 10 17:55: Really felt like we were walking the Wall today. Stunning views over Northumberland and lots of up and down the crags! Wonderful to have so much support coming in from family, friends and colleagues. Thank you!
