This interesting role works across Blue Smile to bring together, evaluate and report in both scientific and lay terms on Blue Smile's data from its therapeutic support to allow it to: continually improve its services; benchmark its work against others; and feed back to donors, schools, and other stakeholders. You will research background information on mental health, deprivation and other key areas to help inform the charity's case for support and take part in research into Blue Smile data or manage volunteer researchers on projects. This role also administers The Resilience Group on behalf of Blue Smile and Relate.

The self-employed Outreach Facilitator's role is offered to those who have counselling or school-based experience of working with children and young people.

The role provides a valuable opportunity to extend skills in direct work with children, young people, parents and school staff. It also offers in-house training, professional development and gives practitioners the chance to shape a growing service and potentially to develop their careers within it.

It involves working alongside and supporting the Blue Smile Outreach Team in the delivery of various aspects of the Outreach Menu of Services, such as pupil workshops, group work and school staff training.

in Blue Smile's new Outreach service, offering:

  • clinical hours and experience of work with a diverse range of clients
  • paid admin time supporting the clinical work
  • the opportunity to work quite independently but with the oversight of an experienced Project Leader
  • the chance to build managerial skills in handling referrals and liaising with teachers
  • focused supervision and training
  • career progression within this new and exciting peripatetic clinical service.

Outreach Associate Therapists work in an allocated school or agency setting, picking up several cases in each. There is some flexibility, so the work can fit well with existing commitments and builds into very valuable professional development to more senior roles.

The role is a self-employed one with a fee of £20.00 per session for a maximum of 4 clinical sessions per day, plus £20.00 per hour for 1 additional admin hour, mainly during term time (max 36 weeks). (Additional work available by agreement.)

Outreach Associate Therapist role description


to run supervision groups for therapy students and graduates. Supervisors report very rewarding case discussions, fascinating casework and supportive co-workers.

Supervisors are self-employed and are paid a charity supervision fee of £40.00 per hour for fortnightly 1.5 hour group clinical placement supervisions (i.e. £60.00 per supervision).

Higher rates and 2-hour groups are available for the supervision of our senior clinicians.
